1 Collected Data

• Identity & Account: Name, surname, email address, encrypted password.
• Vehicle Data: Make, model, year, mileage, engine type, registration history.
• Diagnostics & Media: Photos of the vehicle, engine videos for acoustic analysis, uploaded documents (invoices, inspection reports).
• Telematics (OBD): Diagnostic trouble codes (DTC), live sensor readings retrieved via the connected OBD scanner.

2 Device Permissions

To perform accurate diagnostics, the mobile app requires the following system permissions (revocable anytime in device settings):

• Camera: Required to capture bodywork, wheels, and dashboard images.
• Microphone: Exclusively required during engine video recording for acoustic abnormal noise detection.
• Storage / Gallery: Required to upload maintenance invoices and technical reports.
• Bluetooth / Nearby Devices: Required to communicate with the external OBD diagnostic scanner. Precise GPS geolocation is never tracked.

3 Anonymization & Artificial Intelligence

To safeguard your privacy, ChecksMyCar automatically applies a blur filter to human faces and license plates in all media.

Your media is analyzed by AI models hosted on secure enterprise infrastructure located in the European Union (Google Cloud Vertex AI). Under enterprise terms, your private data is never used to train public AI models.

4 Legal Bases for Processing (GDPR Art. 6)

• Contract Performance (Art. 6.1.b): Account creation, generating digital diagnostic reports, access to service features.
• Legitimate Interest (Art. 6.1.f): Transaction security, fraud prevention, service reliability and platform optimization.
• Legal Obligation (Art. 6.1.c): Retention of accounting records and transaction receipts.
• Consent (Art. 6.1.a): Promotional offers, newsletter emails, and optional website analytics cookies.

5 Data Retention Periods

• Active Account Data: Retained for the lifetime of the account, or deleted after 3 years of continuous inactivity.
• Diagnostic Reports & Media: Retained while the account is active, permanently erased within 24 hours upon account deletion.
• Billing and Invoices: Retained for 10 years as mandated by commercial law.
• Technical Security Logs: Retained for a maximum of 12 months.

6 Right to Erasure & User Rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, restrict, port, and delete your personal data.

How to delete your account: You can delete your account and all associated data directly in the app under Profile > Settings > Delete my account.
